The darkly alluring 2018 Marche Rosso Libenter pulls you close to the glass with a captivating mix of blackberries and dried cherries complemented by autumnal spices, hints of pencil lead and camphor. It’s elegant and velvety in feel, matched by a dense wave of mineral-tinged black fruits offset by nuances of sour citrus, as an air of tobacco forms toward the close. The 2018 leaves the palate drenched in primary concentration and sweet tannins, as hints of mocha mix with a bitter twang of raw hazelnut through the long and lightly structured finale. The 2018 Libenter is already a pleasure from start to finish, but it could use a short stay in the cellar to flesh out. This is a blend of 70% Montepulciano, 25% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon that’s refined for fourteen
months in French barriques.
