Dark and brooding in the glass, the 2021 Villamagna Riserva smolders up with a balsamic-tinged bouquet, mixing sage and rosemary with wild blueberries. This is cool-toned yet creamy, with a wave of ripe red berry fruits and sweet spice underscored by tactile minerals and a firm tannic crunch. This tapers off with dramatic length and structure, leaving just hints of dark chocolate and a gentle saturation of licorice to linger on. The oak here is well-integrated (100% new) yet has also imparted the 2021 with a structure that will require patience. Superior quality !
