The 2009 Touriga Nacional Reserva (Quinta Do Cardo) was aged for 20 months in French oak. The oak here is a touch more prominent than on the 2008, to be expected given the difference in age, but it seems in general to have the same sensibilities, with more depth, a little more richness to the fruit and more intensity. It promises to evolve very well. Just give it some time before plunging in. It becomes very intense with air, but the fruit remains very attractive. Give it a few years in the cellar to settle down, at minimum. Drink 2013-2023.
