The 2022 Fleurie, rooted in clay and manganese-rich soil that's more typical of Moulin-à-Vent, is always unique for the appellation, but especially so in 2022 with its ripe, succulent, smoke-tinged palate. Offering up a bouquet of red and black currants intermingled with stewed blackberries, violets, aniseed, cloves and a subtle hint of charcoal-grilled meats, it's sappy and concentrated, with a full-bodied palate built around abundant, fine-grained tannins. Though undeniably supple and alluring in its current state, the wine only promises further levels of depth with time. 93-94/100.
