Parker review
The 2017 Pinot Noir Einstern * is intense, ripe and sweet on the aromatic yet pithy and earthy nose that reveals red berry and cherry aromas along with smoky, toasty, spicy as well as phenolic notes that, interestingly, seemed to become greener on the opened bottle when I tasted the wine again after six days. Silky, fresh and concentrated, with a juicy mid-palate yet firm tannin grip, this is a still challenging Pinot from a vintage that brought extremely small grapes and berries with only little juice. Accordingly, the finish is pure, fresh and grippy yet also almost a bit astringent. I’d recommend to keep the wine for at least 3-4 years. Lemon-fresh notes on the aftertaste. Tasted in January 2021. 91+/100.
