The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc aged 21 months in 85% new French oak and bottled unfiltered) is just beginning to close down like some of the 2013s. Dense ruby/purple, notes of blueberry, crème de cassis, a touch of camphor and vanilla, the wine is structured, full-bodied, deep and meant for long aging. Forget this for 3-4 years and drink it over the following 25-30 years.
Decanter.com: Outstanding ! 95-97/100. As well as having a voluptuous plummy nose, this is torrified, smoky and still elegant. This is because it is rich, bold, forthright and dense in a big, fleshy style that isn’t overbearing. Impressively done. Perfumes of cherry and cassis emerge from the glass and flow onto
the rich palate. These evolve and adapt into bright black fruit flavours that are heavily concentrated and give it a generous finish. The palate displays cedar wood notes and, of course, heaps of blackberries. It is weighty without being hot on the finish.
Antonio Galloni's Vinous.com: 94/100. Signorello's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has really clamped down since I tasted it last year.
Pomegranate, blood orange, crème de cassis, red cherry jam, lavender, rose petal and mint give the wine much of its distinct, exotic personality.
The firm tannins need time to soften, but this is an impressive effort, that is for sure. The aromatic and flavor intensity here is superb.
