Parker review
The top-of-the-range 2019 Finca O Figueiral Colleita Seleccionada comes from the vineyard that was first replanted exclusively with indigenous grape varieties in 1978. The wine is 70% Treixadura, 5% Godello, 5% Albariño and a lot of other grapes for the remainder— Loureira, Lado, Silveiriña, Caíño Blanco, Dona Blanca and others. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and matured with the lees in 500- and 600-liter oak barrels, 30% of them new, for 10 months, followed by one year in tank. It has a bright orange color, an expressive nose with notes of hay and straw and an expressive palate with some richness and the freshness and balance I was expecting. 93+/100.
Press
www.JancisRobinson.com: Golden yellow, very bright in colour. It shows some reduction in the nose, and some mineral echoes (wet flint). The oak frames the wine but does not overwhelm. The fruit is ripe, from a warm vintage, it shows some tangerine-rind notes, and plenty of balsamic. Stephen Tanzer: (70% treixadura, 15% godello, 10% albarino and 5% loureira): Bright gold. Melon, nectarine and spices on the nose and palate. Smoky, spicy and incisive, with very good depth and energy to its pit fruit and honeydew flavors. A bitter lemon pith nuance adds focus and bite to the finish, which clings with spicy intensity and lingering smokiness.
