The 2012 Selección Viñas Viejas is a selection of Tempranillo grapes from different old vines in the village of La Aguilera (Burgos). The usual modus operandi here is to destem but not crush the grapes, which fermented with indigenous yeasts; the wine aged in oak barrels for around one year. The nose is floral and quite showy, with plenty of red fruit and great freshness in the shape of orange peel. The palate is extremely balanced, with ultra-fine tannins, no oak flavors or texture, and a finish that is really silky and tasty. Very elegant. Super! 5,632 bottles produced.
