From a famous terroir comes the 2013 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard, which was planted in 1972 and possesses some of the oldest Chardonnay vines in Northern California. The wine has lemon custard notes intermixed with orange marmalade and honeysuckle in a medium to full-bodied, refreshing style. Drink now-2020. 93/100.
Antonio Galloni's Vinous.com: 95/100 ! Pale, bright lemon-yellow. Complex nose hints at lemon, clove and minerals. Vinous and penetrating, with strong lemony acidity and a serious mineral spine giving the palate superb energy but keeping the wine tight in the early going. Finishes a bit phenolic, with terrific grip to support a slow evolution in bottle. This, too, needs time in the cellar.
