Parker review

Tasted from tank – to which it was shortly to be moved into barrel for 3-4 months – the Moreau 2012 Chablis Les Clos evokes on nose and palate musky narcissus and sweetly perfumed lily-of-the-valley, apple, white currant and Meyer lemon. It manages uncannily to combine the density and richness of the corresponding Valmur with a clarity, vivacity, buoyancy and primary juiciness such as are especially evident in the best of this estate’s 2011s. An ultra-savory, saline, iodine and alkaline mingling of oyster liqueur and shrimp shell reduction had my salivary glands in thrall. Here’s hoping time in barrel takes nothing away from the present performance of this beauty, which I suspect will merit attention through at least 2022. 92-93+/100.

Antonio Galloni's Vinous: 94/100. The 2012 Chablis Les Clos is magnificent. Texture and pure silkiness are two of the signatures in this gorgeous Chablis. Sweet floral and spice notes meld into dried pears, sage, almond and mint, all shaped by the partial vinification in oak. In 2012, the Clos is a wine of total harmony and class. This is a gorgeous Chablis that captures both the essence of site as well as all of the Moreau hallmarks of richness.
